Life is so unfair – R.I.P. Jasmine

I didn’t know her, but a lot of my friends did, and I feel bad all the same. I know what it’s like to lose someone you care about.

14-year old Jasmine Paragas was killed yesterday in Elmhurst, simply crossing the street to the bus stop to get to school. She was hit by a yellow school bus, the driver of which, George Severino, had been in two accidents in the past three years. He was only issued three summonses, 2 for equipment failure and 1 for failing to yield to a pedestrian. The worst part is that her mother saw what happened. They were walking together up until the crosswalk, where Jasmine was going to cross the street.

My condolences go out to her family. It’s horrible about what happened, and I feel so bad. That could’ve been one of my friends, and for many of them, it was. To all who knew her, I hope you guys are doing alright. May she rest in peace. She will be missed.

Edit [12/6/08]: The more that I think about it, the more sad I get. She was the same age as me, the same age as all of my friends..it just doesn’t seem real. I mean, one minute, you could be talking to them on AIM or hanging out with them at the movies, and the next..their just gone. It isn’t right. People shouldn’t just…leave like that. Suddenly without warning..all the things she had to look forward to, that she would’ve wanted to say to people-to her family, and friends-, and what people would’ve liked to have said to her. Imagine all the unspoken thoughts and feelings we have through-out our life. Things that we want to say, but don’t actually say them. Life is unfairly short and we don’t have a lot of time. We need to make the most out of it and live life to the fullest.

I completely agree. I feel sad every time I think about it. Too young to die. She went to my high school & I passed her every day and never got to know her.

I agree that life isn’t fair and it it way too short. I recently had a friend of mine die. It was sucide and he was only 15. It sucks that their life is taken away from them and they never really had a chance to live life to the fullest. I feel your pain
