HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! Here’s wishing to a healthy and happy new year! So, here is a list of 25 new years resolutions of mine, that I only wrote because I got tagged for it on Facebook, roflmao…

Viacom, the global entertainment company, is having a little hissy fit. They feel that they have been undermined as an asset to Time Warner Cable. They are demanding a rate increase for the costs of several of their channels, which may cause an increase in the bills of the customers. Time Warner Cable doesn’t want this to happen but they might not have a choice. Viacom made an offer that at 12:01 tonight, (a minute into the new year), they’re going to pull the plug on 19 Viacom backed channels as a “HAPPY NEW YEAR” gift to us and Time Warner Cable. (For those of you who are a bit dense, that was sarcasm, haha) if TWC doesn’t agree to their terms of the rate increase. TWC claims that Viacom wants an outrageous increase of 26-36%, whilst Viacom says that that isn’t true, and they want an increase around 12%. Either way, it’s still more money (PER CHANNEL may I remind you) to keep your favorite TV Stations.

“We sympathize with the fact that Viacom’s advertising business is suffering and that their networks’ ratings have largely been declining,” Time Warner Cable Chief Executive Glen Britt said. “However, we can’t abide their attempt to make up their lost revenue on the backs of Time Warner Cable customers.”

Time Warner Cable is going to try to work things out with Viacom, perhaps a counter deal may be offered. But either way, things don’t look good for TWC (including me).

The channels that may be affected include: Comedy Central, Logo, Palladia, MTV, MTV 2, MTV Hits, MTV Jams, MTV Tr3s, Nickelodeon, Noggin, Nick 2, Nicktoons, Spike, The N, TV Land, VH1, VH1 Classic, VH1 Soul and CMT: Pure Country.

On each of those channels, a banner has been running at the bottom, displaying an alert message about the ordeal and leaves numbers for you to call to protest against Viacom’s tirade.

If you are a TWC customer, and are over 18 years of age, call 1-800-762-3786 to demand that they keep your channels!

If you are a Bright House Network customer, and are over 18 years of age, call 1-866-309-3279 to demand that they keep your channels!

That last one may not be accurate, I have no idea. But if you decide to take a shot, call and protest!

After hours and hours on the phone (see, this is why I don’t want to try and get my ac adapter for my laptop) I [with A LOT of help from linksys and t-mobile] succesfully installed my new HS@H router, fixed the internet, and ensured that our phone was working. lol. FINALLY!

My mom tried to be the one on the phone..but of course since I’m the one who knows the most about it, she ended up just getting fed up when I corrected her and just gave me the phone..even though I hate it. So eventually, after talking to a lot of different people (by the way, this was on my cell phone, because my house phone was having issues because of the whole transfer between AT&T and T-Mobile), I ended up with this woman named Sally at Linksys Tech Support.

At first, I was a little annoyed because she seemed to take a while to respond whenever I said something. But that was because I was impatient. She turned out to be the best person I talked to all night and got EVERYTHING working. Thank god!

Along with my G1, my parents decided to switch our home service to T-Mobile as well. Also, one of our cordless home phones was broken so we got a new one. Now, they gave me the job of installing the new phone…and the new T-Mobile HotSpot at home router.

Wonderful.

Anyway, I installed the new phone & answering machine, that was pretty basic, just follow set-up instructions. It’s not any T-Mobile special phone, just a regular cordless phone. A GE actually lol…it looks a bit like a fridge since it’s in stainless steel rofl.

Anyway, I installed that. Next was the router…

Yea, so I detached my old router (it didn’t really matter because it was acting weird lately and I wouldn’t be able to get internet on my desktop if the router was on…it was like blocking the modem or something). Anyway, I had a linksys, not one with an antenna, like a sleek black one that curved down. Anyway. I detached that, then followed all the steps on the CD to install the T-Mobile Router.

Now, the first part of that, with the whole SIM card thing, there was already a SIM card in my router…now I assume that the guy that my dad got it from put it in for him…I really don’t know. Because there was no SIM card holder in the package…so yea, it was already in. Whether it is activated or not, I don’t know. Now, it could be that that SIM card isn’t supposed to be in there. My dad said that he just pulled it out from under the shelf and gave it to them. But you know how in phone stores, when they want to check something, they take stuff out and put SIM cards in and stuff. Like they did that with my old phone for an issue I was having. They took the SIM card out and opened a box for a T-Mobile Sidekick and put my SIM card in. Once they were sure that was working, they gave it back to me. (This was at a different store I believe, on a different occasion). Anyway, things like that is what I mean.

So someone could’ve accidentally left a SIM card in there and the guy who gave it to my dad didn’t know. So that’s one possibility, that the SIM wasn’t meant for us and it’s not supposed to be in our router.

The other possibility is that the guy knew that there was a SIM card in there and he didn’t activate it. So my dad needs to call him and find out about that.

Anyway, I left the SIM card in, and installed the rest, all the right cables going to the right internet and ethernet ports.

Now, when I got to the phone part, I plugged the new phone into the router…..I waited 3-4 minutes like it said…but no light…Ugh. (all the other lights were on)

Oh by the way, while this is happening, once the router kicked in, my internet was lost. So that was just something I observed before I put the phone line in…so yea, no internet when I plug in the router..

Anyway, the phone light doesn’t go on… so I just put it back in our regular system. We have AT&T at home, and that is what the wiring is with, so I plugged it back into the regular AT&T system and unplugged the router, so I could get Internet.

So that was all yesterday. The phone worked fine normally, got calls, took messages, the whole thing. Now today, my dad calls my cell saying he tried calling home and that it just goes straight to a message. (you know, one of those automated ones, that says “You’ve reached 1-***-***-****. Leave a message blah blah blah.” That isn’t our normal message, because I recorded one. Anyway, We tried a bunch of things (me talking to him on my cell, and him at work). And so we figured out…our phones don’t ring…the answering machine doesn’t take messages (this is the new phone & answering machine I installed yesterday and our non-cordless phone that’s in the kitchen..so basically both our phones).

Now, the transfer from AT&T service to T-Mobile service was supposed to be done by T-Mobile, and it might take up to 7 days. I don’t know when exactly my dad got the router and initiated all this stuff.. but it was around Christmas. He called the guy at the store the day after, and it wasn’t through by then, so I’ll count that Friday as the first day. Then I guess it’s business days only…so yesterday, and now today tuesday.

So the transfer probably isn’t over yet…

And it’s not that the phone number changed, I called from my house phone and called my cell, and the same number still came up and it still said Home. And we can still MAKE calls. We just can’t get any…or receive messages. And that automated thing you get when you call my house? Well those messages aren’t going anywhere that I know of. So basically, we’re in big trouble right now..

So I need answers, and if anyone has any ideas, please leave a comment and help. Thanks, much appreciated. Because right now I’m really stressed at trying to fix this…and I give up. I love T-Mobile service dearly, but why does a transfer have to be so difficult? I blame AT&T for us losing incoming service lol.

Also, if any executives from T-Mobile or AT&T would like to help please do. Emphasis on that, haha. I would really like a bit of an explanation as to how long transfers typically take. And what really happens. And also if there’s anything else that you can say to guide me or give some assistance in this issue, it would be much appreciated.

And I know you can help me, because if execs from eNom can answer my questions about AOL mail, then you can answer my questions about my phone service, haha.

Holy crap I can’t stop singing christmas songs! Lol. Well even though christmas passed, I’m still in a festive mood. So I’m going to tell you a little bit about my favorite christmas gift this year..my brand new G1.

I really had no idea that my parents would get this for me. My mom played a trick on me by leaving out research papers about the ipod touch (which is #2 on my list right now, the g1 being number1 obv). So I was completely convinced that they accidentally left the papers out and that I was definitely getting it. Boy was I wrong. When I went to open the only box that could possibly be the ipod touch, I opened it expecting to see the box. I was tricked AGAIN and thrown off guard when I saw an american eagle box under the wrapping paper. I wasn’t expecting that and I was prepared to say “YESS thx so much!” So my expression was a bit like a confused monkey….haha. anyway, my mom thought it was so funny bcuz she knew I was expecting an ipod touch. Anyway, I opened the AE box and there was another box wrapped up. I opened that thinking, “ok jokes over, THIS must be my ipod”. WRONG! I ripped open the paper and see ‘G1′ in giant letters.

I almost died.

I was like OMG! And I actually started crying! Lmfao. I NEVER thought my parents would get me that. NEVER. This was bcuz of the phone bill. But they surprised me. They got me good. Haha.

Anyway, this phone is the best thing ever. I’m using it right now to write this post actually xD.

The service is fantastic, the internet browser works great just like a real browser, for a simple camera with no flash or zoom – the quality is pretty good, youtube videos work great, phone quality is great, the market is FANTASTIC! Pretty much everything in there is free, you just have to download it. The touchscreen works smoothly without a hitch, the keyboard (though not as raised as I would like it to be) works very well). The headphone usb jack, while a hassle, is good as well. It comes with a converter so that you can plug standard headphones in. Its just that the converter wire makes it a little too long. Battery life has been a bit sketchy. So far, it’s lasted long enough, but I had to be careful not to waste bat life. However, its getting much better because I’m trying this new technique that helps prolong battery life. I read it somewhere, I don’t remember where though, that if you let the battery run all the way down a few times, it teaches it to conserve power. So instead of charging in the minute it turns yellow, or even red, I’ve let it go all the way down until the battery dies or is close to dieing (usually by the end of the day if I was using it all day). Then I let it charge up full. That way, it learns not to need the charger so often.

So far, its been working great, that battery life seems to be getting longer every day.

Games and applications galore on this phone, it works great.

I definitely recommend this phone, I love it and it works great for me.

Some of my favorite apps (besides the default ones) are Shazam, Horoscope, Shop Savvy, and this Brain Game one that has Sudoku. Haha I love it!

Merry Christmas! Yea, I’m a bit too late for that…oh well. Yea, so I haven’t been posting that much lately. Mostly because I’ve been busy, because my laptop still isn’t working…and yea stuff like that. Anyway, guess what I got for Christmas!

A G1!!!! That’s right! I got the BEST phone ever, (take that Apple). I love my phone soo much.

Anyway, my Abuela came to visit from PR for Christmas, but now she’s in the hospital because she has pnumonia -_-. I hope she gets better soon. We took her to the hospital yesterday.I didn’t get home until like 3:45 in the morning and went to bed at 4.

Awesome! I love it! I totally need to learn how to play those parts for the b flat clarinet (he switched to it every so often). Since I play the clarinet in band, maybe I can try a little of Disturbia before we start playing the song we usually do in class. I already taught myself to play Silent Night, lol im so proud of myself, rofl. I did it by ear. Anyway, this video is so cool! And the guy is really talented. Kudos for being able to play this!

Also, the song of the day? It was on Karolina’s iPod and I never heard it before but now I love it! Break the Dawn by Michelle Williams. I’m going to set it as my song in the music corner.

The power cord/AC adapter is wacking out again…and last time, it stopped working and I had to get a new one after spending hours and hours and hours on the damn phone talking to agents in different departments in Dell and Best Buy about my laptop. Well this time, it’s spazzing out. If I so much as move the part of the cord [where the wire and bumpy part where it can plug into the laptop meet] the thing shuts off. I know it’s not my laptop because the light on the ac adapter goes off, so it’s that, not my laptop. So then I just unplug it from both ends (my laptop and the outlet) and then plug it back in and it works…ugh.. I don’t want to spend another 100 hours for a new power cord.

Next, my left-click key broke…yep. Since I have a touchpad, its ok, but it’s annoying because I’m so used to clicking with the key and not double clicking the touchpad. I mean, the key still clicks if it’s over the space, but it’s loose and falls off because something broke like a clip or something that holds it together. Plus, it’s not popping back up like a normal key, so it’s frustrating.

But I don’t want to spend hours on the freaking phone for TWO problems…ugh I give up.
